The role holder will provide technical support to the market in relation to overseas premium taxes and other indirect taxes. To assist in raising awareness of premium tax issues and reporting obligations, and take responsibility for premium tax returns for specified countries and deal with overseas premium tax issues. To organise and assist with audits by overseas Government tax authorities and assist with the running of the Central Taxes System. To assist and cover for the Tax Accountant with primary responsibility for VAT and overseas GST.
The role holder will provide technical advice to brokers and agents on specific issues concerning premium taxes and other overseas indirect taxes, and assist with the research and development of insurance / tax technical policy positions. Assist with day to day premium tax compliance and arrange for overseas premium tax payments (specified countries). As applicable, liaise with Tax Authorities, Overseas Offices and the Market to resolve specific issues and audit queries raised by tax authorities.
The role holder will provide support and cover as and when required, have an accountancy/ tax qualification ACA and/or ATII. Have a proven track record in relation to indirect taxes including UK VAT and overseas taxes, and understanding of insurance and the role of brokers and underwriters.
